Offering hope and healing to veterans through hunting and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We have officially met our fundraising goal for 2024! Thank you for supporting our Mission. Check back for big updates coming soon!
Alan and Melody (Humphrey) Hicks have made their home in Stigler, OK since 2007. Alan served 4 1/2 years in the United States Marine Corps with 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines Weapons company. He served 2 combat tours. First, as a mortarman in Afghanistan, and then as a machine gunner in Iraq. He received the Purple Heart after being injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq. He left the USMC shortly after his return and the couple returned to Melody's hometown in Oklahoma. When they returned, they quickly learned to navigate the VA, along with Alan's diagnoses of PTSD and TBI along with several physical injuries. He often retreated to the outdoors and found some peace in hunting. After several years of struggling with depression, suicidal thoughts, and survivor's guilt, Alan found healing in Jesus and has never been the same. He is now a licensed minister with the Oklahoma Assemblies of God. It is their hope now to help others find the peace they have found.
Our mission is to help other combat veterans with PTSD find peace through a relationship with Jesus Christ. VA statistics reflect that many of our returning veterans struggle with substance abuse and mental health challenges, and that approximately 22 veterans take their own life each day. Alan's experiences with those issues have inspired us to reach back into the darkness and show his brothers and sisters a different way out.
Most of all we need your prayers. We plan to bring a small group of combat veterans out for a few days most weeks of hunting season with all expenses paid. We will provide them with all meals and lodging, a hunting license, tags, and clothing if needed. Additionally, we will gift them a TCM shirt and a Bible when they leave us.
